Looking to snag a last-minute hunting tag in Colorado? The 2025 leftover and reissued big game hunting licenses—including deer, elk, pronghorn, and black bear—will become available starting Tuesday, August 5th at 9:00 a.m. Mountain Time.

These tags are often a hidden gem for hunters who missed the draw or want to add another hunt to their fall plans.

What Are Leftover (Remaining) and Reissued Licenses?

  • Leftover Licenses: These are licenses that remained unclaimed after both the primary and secondary draws. They’re first-come, first-served and can go quickly.

  • Reissued Licenses: When a hunter turns in a license they no longer plan to use, that tag may become reissued and available to the public again.

Important Dates to Know for Leftover Tags

  • July 30th, 2025 – Morning:
    The preview of the leftover list will be published online for public access.
  • August 5, 2025 – 9:00 a.m. MT:
    Leftover and reissued licenses officially go on sale via the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website.

  • Starting August 12, 2025 – Every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. MT:
    A weekly preview list of reissued licenses is released—giving hunters a heads-up on what tags might be available soon.
